Burgundy

In Burgundy, the perfect soil and wine growing climate, coupled with a rich multi-generational history in growing grapes and making fine wines, has built Burgundy's extraordinary reputation for producing exceptional wines in 84 appellations. With a focus on pinot noir, chardonnay, gamay and aligoté grapes, the region showcases mostly single varietals. The pinot noir and chardonnay, accounts for the vast majority of the wines produced. There is also some sparkling made, knows as Crémant de Bourgogne. The high limestone content in Burgundy's soils coupled with a usually cool continental climate, produces the best pinot noir and chardonnay in the world. The whites showcase notes and flavors of white flowers, white flesh fruits and sometimes intense minerals, while the reds have scents of black fruits, red berries, spices or black truffle.
