DESCRIPTION

The Saint-Estèphe Grand Cru Classé Château Calon-Ségur is a wine of profound elegance and timeless charm, seamlessly combining the appellation’s power with remarkable finesse. Crafted primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, it reflects the estate’s gravel and clay terroir that lends both structure and freshness. Aged in French oak barrels, it delivers depth, balance, and precision — a harmonious blend of dark fruit, floral notes, and refined tannins. Château Calon-Ségur stands as one of Bordeaux’s most soulful and enduring classics.

EYE

Deep garnet-red with violet highlights, dense and luminous.

NOSE

Aromas of blackcurrant, plum, and violet mingle with notes of graphite, cedar, and fine spice.

MOUTH

Structured yet velvety, with concentrated fruit, silky tannins, and remarkable freshness. Layers of cassis, dark chocolate, and mineral tones evolve toward a long, precise finish — elegant and powerful in equal measure.

PAIRING

Ideal with roast lamb, venison, or beef tenderloin. It also pairs beautifully with truffle dishes or aged cheeses such as Comté or Saint-Nectaire.

Château Calon-Ségur

Among the oldest estates in Saint-Estèphe, Château Calon-Ségur traces its history back to the 12th century and earned lasting fame under the Marquis de Ségur — who famously declared, “My heart belongs to Calon.” The heart emblem on every bottle remains a symbol of this legacy. Today, under the ownership of the Suravenir Group and the direction of Vincent Millet, the château continues to craft wines of purity, power, and emotion — embodying the perfect balance between tradition and modern precision.

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is the largest and possibly the most famous wine region in France marked by it's rich history beginning in Roman times. Back in 1885, several Châteaux were classified into grand crus with five quality levels which still exist today. As a port town, its unique geography is built around the Garonne, Dordogne and Gironde rivers which have created it's famous left bank (Medoc) and right banks (Pomerol and Saint-Émilion) and the Entre-Deux-Mers (between two "seas" or rivers) regions. 90% of Bordeaux wine is red with artful blending of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot and sometimes malbec. Wines showcase a full range of taste profiles from earthy with strong and dry tannins to softer and smoother with notes of plum, black fruits. There are the go to French wines with red meat dishes.
