Château Angelus 2014 is a Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé "A" red Bordeaux from the right bank. In 2014, a cool, uneven summer was rescued by a warm, sunny September and October. That late "Indian summer" let the grapes ripen slowly, and Cabernet Franc excelled, which is why this vintage is an unusual half-and-half blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Expect blackberry, black cherry, cassis and violet, framed by cocoa, tobacco and graphite. The tannins are fine and firm, and the finish is long and fresh. Critics rate it up to 97 points (Wine Enthusiast). Drink now through the 2040s. Decant for 1 to 2 hours and serve with roast lamb or aged cheeses.
