DESCRIPTION

The Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux from Château La Fleur Fompeyre is a generous and refined red wine that reflects the charm of the Right Bank. Crafted mainly from Merlot with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, it offers a balance of ripe fruit, freshness, and silky tannins. The wine expresses aromas of red and black berries, spice, and subtle earthy notes. Harmonious and elegant, it is both approachable in its youth and capable of graceful aging.

EYE

A deep garnet-red color with brilliant ruby highlights, showing both intensity and refinement in the glass. Its brightness reflects the wine’s youth and energy, while hints of maturity suggest depth.

NOSE

The bouquet is expressive and layered, revealing aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry, and plum, accented by notes of violet, spice, and a touch of tobacco. A subtle mineral undertone enhances its complexity.

MOUTH

On the palate, it is round and structured, with flavors of juicy dark fruits, cocoa, and soft spices. The tannins are velvety yet present, while the balanced acidity adds freshness and length. The finish is elegant, persistent, and marked by a hint of graphite.

PAIRING

This wine pairs beautifully with roasted meats, lamb chops, and hearty stews. It also complements duck, charcuterie, and aged cheeses, making it a versatile choice for both casual dinners and refined occasions.

Château La Fleur Fompeyre

Château La Fleur Fompeyre is a family-owned estate located in the hills of Castillon, near Saint-Émilion. Benefiting from clay-limestone soils and optimal exposure, the property is dedicated to producing wines that showcase the richness of Bordeaux’s Right Bank. With careful vineyard management and traditional winemaking, the château creates cuvées that embody balance, authenticity, and the timeless elegance of the region.

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is the largest and possibly the most famous wine region in France marked by it's rich history beginning in Roman times. Back in 1885, several Châteaux were classified into grand crus with five quality levels which still exist today. As a port town, its unique geography is built around the Garonne, Dordogne and Gironde rivers which have created it's famous left bank (Medoc) and right banks (Pomerol and Saint-Émilion) and the Entre-Deux-Mers (between two "seas" or rivers) regions. 90% of Bordeaux wine is red with artful blending of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot and sometimes malbec. Wines showcase a full range of taste profiles from earthy with strong and dry tannins to softer and smoother with notes of plum, black fruits. There are the go to French wines with red meat dishes.
