DESCRIPTION

Château Angélus, Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé, is a masterpiece of depth, harmony, and sophistication. Set on south-facing slopes over limestone and clay, its predominantly Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines produce remarkable richness and precision. The exceptional 2016 vintage, with a wet spring followed by a long, dry, sunny summer, delivered outstanding concentration, freshness, and balance. French oak aging reveals layers of blackcurrant, blackberry, violet, graphite, and mineral freshness, supported by refined tannins and vibrant acidity. A powerful yet elegant expression of Saint-Émilion.
EYE

Deep ruby-red with elegant garnet reflections, bright and beautifully concentrated.

NOSE

Refined and expressive, with aromas of blackcurrant and ripe dark berries complemented by subtle toasted notes, fresh mint, fine spice, and delicate mineral nuances.

MOUTH

Elegant and beautifully balanced, with silky tannins and remarkable freshness. Layers of dark fruit, spice, and subtle toasted notes unfold across the palate, leading to a long, precise, and harmonious finish.

PAIRING

Ideal with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, or veal with a rich jus. It also pairs beautifully with truffle dishes, wild mushrooms, and mature cheeses such as Comté or Saint-Nectaire.

Château Angélus

At the origin of Château Angélus is an exceptional vineyard at the gates of Saint-Émilion, on the famous south-facing “foot of the slope.” Since 1782, eight generations of the de Boüard de Laforest family have shaped the Estate through passion, determination, and a commitment to excellence. Today, Angélus encompasses 135 hectares, including 65 hectares in Saint-Émilion, with 30 hectares forming its historic heart. In 2012, Hubert de Boüard passed leadership to his daughter, Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, the third woman in the family’s history to lead the Estate. Today, Angélus employs 170 people, produces eight cuvées, and owns hotels and a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is the largest and possibly the most famous wine region in France marked by it's rich history beginning in Roman times. Back in 1885, several Châteaux were classified into grand crus with five quality levels which still exist today. As a port town, its unique geography is built around the Garonne, Dordogne and Gironde rivers which have created it's famous left bank (Medoc) and right banks (Pomerol and Saint-Émilion) and the Entre-Deux-Mers (between two "seas" or rivers) regions. 90% of Bordeaux wine is red with artful blending of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot and sometimes malbec. Wines showcase a full range of taste profiles from earthy with strong and dry tannins to softer and smoother with notes of plum, black fruits. There are the go to French wines with red meat dishes.
