DESCRIPTION

The Côte-Rôtie “La Turque” from E. Guigal is an icon of the northern Rhône — a wine of extraordinary concentration, elegance, and aromatic intensity. Produced from old-vine Syrah with a small addition of Viognier, it comes from the steep schist slopes of the Côte Brune, where exposure and soil create exceptional depth and complexity. Aged for over three years in new French oak barrels, it marries richness and refinement, offering seductive fruit, velvety texture, and remarkable length.

EYE

Deep ruby-red with dark garnet hues, displaying density and brilliance.

NOSE

Opulent and expressive, with aromas of blackberry, raspberry, and violet, intertwined with notes of smoked meat, spice, and fine oak.

MOUTH

Rich and voluptuous on the palate, offering layers of ripe dark fruit, mocha, and pepper, supported by polished tannins. The texture is supple yet powerful, leading to a long, savory finish marked by minerality and finesse.

PAIRING

Ideal with roast duck, venison, or braised short ribs. It also pairs beautifully with truffle dishes, wild mushrooms, or aged cheeses such as Beaufort and Bleu d’Auvergne.

E. Guigal

E. Guigal is a leading estate in the Rhône Valley known for producing wines that emphasize depth, balance, and expressive terroir. Careful vineyard selection and precise cellar work guide each cuvée, allowing the character of each site to emerge with clarity and structure. The style is polished, confident, and rooted in regional heritage.

Rhône

The Rhône Valley takes its name from the majestuous river, which anchors its geographical beauty from the Alps mountains and run into the Mediterranean sea to the South. The dominant sunshine and pleasant breezes of this large valley creates a perfect climate for grapes growth such as Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre (GSM) for the reds, Grenache Blanc or Gris, Viognier and Marsanne-Roussanne for the whites. North of Montelimar, the Syrah is the dominant single red variety planted, which can resist to cooler semi-continental climate; while south of the town, the warmer, dryer Mediterranean climate produces generous red blends with Grenache dominance. Thanks to an easy growing climate, the Rhône winemakers have been among the pioneers of sustainable and environmental practices and they have been producing world class quality red wines such as the reknown Côtes-du-Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the South or the Côte Rotie and Hermitage in the North. The choices and pleasures of these wines are endless, especially with grilled red meats, sausages or spicy cuisine.
