DESCRIPTION

Maranges Blanc Vieilles Vignes from Domaine Bachey-Legros is a refined white Burgundy crafted from old Chardonnay vines averaging 60 years of age. Grown on clay-limestone soils at the southern tip of the Côte de Beaune, this cuvée embodies both richness and tension - a hallmark of the estate's meticulous vineyard work and long barrel aging. Expressive and elegant, it showcases the depth and minerality typical of Maranges' high-altitude terroirs, offering a harmonious balance between ripe fruit, freshness, and subtle oak influence.

EYE

Bright golden-yellow with silvery reflections, showing clarity and concentration.

NOSE

Elegant and expressive with aromas of pear, white peach, acacia blossom, and fresh butter, complemented by hints of hazelnut and chalky minerality.

MOUTH

Rich and textured, yet lifted by vibrant acidity. Layers of stone fruit and citrus unfold over a creamy mid-palate, finishing with tension, length, and a refined saline edge.

PAIRING

Perfect with seared scallops, roasted poultry, creamy pasta, or mild cheeses like Brie and Chaource. Its balance of richness and freshness also makes it an excellent companion for seafood risotto or mushroom dishes.

Domaine Bachey-Legros

Located in Santenay, Domaine Bachey-Legros is a sixth-generation family estate led by Samuel and Lénaïc Bachey-Legros. The domaine manages about 18 hectares of vineyards, many of which feature exceptionally old vines (40 to over 100 years). Their philosophy centers on minimal intervention, sustainable viticulture, and long aging to preserve the authenticity of each terroir. Their wines are known for their purity, structure, and timeless Burgundian character.

Burgundy

In Burgundy, the perfect soil and wine growing climate, coupled with a rich multi-generational history in growing grapes and making fine wines, has built Burgundy's extraordinary reputation for producing exceptional wines in 84 appellations. With a focus on pinot noir, chardonnay, gamay and aligoté grapes, the region showcases mostly single varietals. The pinot noir and chardonnay, accounts for the vast majority of the wines produced. There is also some sparkling made, knows as Crémant de Bourgogne. The high limestone content in Burgundy's soils coupled with a usually cool continental climate, produces the best pinot noir and chardonnay in the world. The whites showcase notes and flavors of white flowers, white flesh fruits and sometimes intense minerals, while the reds have scents of black fruits, red berries, spices or black truffle. No wonder, Burgundies where the wine of choice for many French kings, and to this day, remain the best companion for fine dining.
