DESCRIPTION

Château Troplong Mondot 2016 is a powerhouse Right Bank Bordeaux from Saint-Émilion’s Premier Grand Cru Classé classification. Sourced from one of the highest elevations on the Saint-Émilion clay-limestone plateau, this vintage showcases the grandeur, concentration, and opulent fruit profile that made the estate famous worldwide.

A blend of 89% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Cabernet Franc aged in 77% new French oak, the 2016 vintage strikes a balance between power, structure, and aging potential. A true collector wine!

The 2016 Saint-Émilion vintage is an extraordinary, classic Bordeaux vintage defined by remarkable freshness, dense black fruit, and fine-grained tannins. A wet spring followed by a dry summer and cool nights allowed Saint-Émilion’s clay-limestone plateau to yield perfectly ripe grapes with vibrant natural acidity, balancing power with exceptional precision and longevity. 95pts + rated.

Château Troplong Mondot

Château Troplong Mondot is a premier Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé estate perched at the highest point of Bordeaux’s Right Bank limestone plateau. Its unique clay-limestone soils produce full-bodied, age-worthy wines renowned for dark fruit depth and mineral structure.
Dominated by Merlot alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the estate pairs rich tradition with modern sustainable farming and gravity-fed winemaking. The château also hosts the Michelin-starred restaurant Les Belles Perdrix.

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is the largest and possibly the most famous wine region in France marked by it's rich history beginning in Roman times. Back in 1885, several Châteaux were classified into grand crus with five quality levels which still exist today. As a port town, its unique geography is built around the Garonne, Dordogne and Gironde rivers which have created it's famous left bank (Medoc) and right banks (Pomerol and Saint-Émilion) and the Entre-Deux-Mers (between two "seas" or rivers) regions. 90% of Bordeaux wine is red with artful blending of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot and sometimes malbec. Wines showcase a full range of taste profiles from earthy with strong and dry tannins to softer and smoother with notes of plum, black fruits. There are the go to French wines with red meat dishes.
