DESCRIPTION

The Saint-Estèphe "Pagodes de Cos" from Château Cos d'Estournel is the distinguished second wine of this iconic estate, offering a refined and expressive interpretation of its Grand Vin's grandeur. Produced from younger vines and selected parcels on the estate's gravel and clay-limestone soils, it combines freshness, balance, and aromatic charm. Aged in French oak barrels, the wine reveals silky tannins and generous fruit wrapped in elegant structure - a harmonious and accessible expression of Saint-Estèphe's power and finesse.

EYE

Deep garnet-red with violet reflections, showing both youth and concentration.

NOSE

Expressive aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, and violet, layered with notes of spice, cedar, and subtle mocha.

MOUTH

Supple and polished, with ripe fruit supported by fine-grained tannins. Flavors of dark berries, cocoa, and graphite unfold gracefully, leading to a long, refined finish that mirrors the elegance of the Grand Vin.

PAIRING

Perfect with roasted lamb, duck confit, or beef tenderloin. It also pairs beautifully with earthy dishes such as mushroom risotto or aged cheeses like Comté and Saint-Nectaire.

Château Cos d’Estournel

Located at the southern edge of Saint-Estèphe, Château Cos d’Estournel is a Second Growth of the 1855 Classification and one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated estates. Founded by Louis-Gaspard d’Estournel in the early 19th century, the property is renowned for its exotic architecture and pioneering spirit. Today, under the ownership of Michel Reybier, Cos d’Estournel combines tradition with innovation, producing wines of exceptional depth, precision, and elegance — with Pagodes de Cos reflecting the estate’s signature style in a more approachable form.

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is the largest and possibly the most famous wine region in France marked by it's rich history beginning in Roman times. Back in 1885, several Châteaux were classified into grand crus with five quality levels which still exist today. As a port town, its unique geography is built around the Garonne, Dordogne and Gironde rivers which have created it's famous left bank (Medoc) and right banks (Pomerol and Saint-Émilion) and the Entre-Deux-Mers (between two "seas" or rivers) regions. 90% of Bordeaux wine is red with artful blending of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot and sometimes malbec. Wines showcase a full range of taste profiles from earthy with strong and dry tannins to softer and smoother with notes of plum, black fruits. There are the go to French wines with red meat dishes.
