DESCRIPTION

The Aqui Pétillant Naturel 2023 from Florian Mathieu is a joyful and unfiltered sparkling wine made in the ancestral method. Crafted from organically grown grapes in the Languedoc, it offers fresh fruit, gentle bubbles, and a lively, rustic charm. Dry and playful, this cuvée captures the carefree spirit of natural sparkling wines - vibrant, fun, and perfect for sharing.

EYE

This wine shows a pale, hazy yellow color with fine, lively bubbles. Its natural cloudiness reflects its unfiltered, artisanal style.

NOSE

The bouquet is fresh and aromatic, with notes of pear, green apple, and lemon zest. Hints of white flowers and a subtle yeasty character add depth and personality.

MOUTH

On the palate, it is crisp and lightly sparkling, with flavors of citrus, quince, and orchard fruit. A touch of salinity and zippy acidity create a refreshing, thirst-quenching finish.

PAIRING

Perfect as an aperitif, it pairs beautifully with oysters, sushi, fresh salads, and light cheeses. Its playful character also makes it ideal for casual gatherings and picnics.

Florian Mathieu

Florian Mathieu is an independent winemaker and négociant based in the Languedoc, known for his modern approach to traditional winemaking. His wines are made with respect for the environment, often organic or low-intervention, and designed to be approachable, expressive, and full of character. Aqui is one of his signature pét-nats, reflecting his philosophy of making wines that are both authentic and joyful.

Languedoc-Roussillon

The Languedoc-Roussillon region, located west of Provence and South of the Rhône valley, on the Mediterranean Sea, is the largest wine region of France. It is known for its rich wine and culinary history influenced by the Roman period and its mediterranean culture and climate. Benefiting from "usually" good growing conditions, winemaking creativity and experimentation thrive here, as new generations of producers have focused on premium wines and organic or natural farming. Native red grape varieies such as Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault result usually into bold and smooth red blends with always a touch of earthiness or dry herbs. This region is diverse and exiciting in its offerings, and offer a wide range of wines from simple single varietals to sophisticated red blends that will compete against the best wines in the world. Enjoy Languedoc wines with grilled meat or fish (for the whites), lamb stews, or any mediterranean dishes.
