DESCRIPTION

Côtes du Jura Vin Jaune Domaine Badoz is a classic Jura white wine made from 100% Savagnin and aged over six years under a natural yeast veil (sous voile). Rich and complex, with oxyidative style, this wine offers notes of walnut, spice, and dried apple with remarkable freshness and a long finish. Resembling to a dry sherry, this unique wine pairs perfectly with Comté cheese, lobster, mushrooms, and creamy poultry dishes.

EYE

A brilliant deep golden color with rich amber reflections, characteristic of a traditionally aged Vin Jaune.

NOSE

Intensely aromatic and complex, offering layers of toasted walnut, hazelnut, preserved lemon, dried apricot, warm spices, and subtle notes of curry, honey, and forest floor.

MOUTH

Full-bodied, dry, and remarkably structured, with vibrant acidity supporting flavors of roasted nuts, citrus peel, savory spices, and pronounced minerality. The finish is exceptionally long, elegant, and persistent.

PAIRING

A timeless pairing with aged Comté cheese, morel mushrooms, creamy poultry dishes, veal, lobster, or roasted white meats. It also complements rich, spice-forward cuisine and is best enjoyed slightly chilled.

Domaine Benoit Badoz

Founded in 1659 and based in Poligny, Domaine Benoit Badoz is a family-run estate with ten generations of winemaking tradition. Benoit Badoz continues this legacy with a deep respect for the Jura terroir, producing wines that express both precision and authenticity. The estate practices sustainable viticulture and meticulous cellar work, crafting wines that reflect the region’s distinctive limestone and marl soils.

Jura

The smallest and second most mountainous wine region in France after the Savoie. It is known for its bucolic lanscapes, its obscure red and white grape varieties and the birthplace of the so called "Vin Jaune", or yellow wine, an oxydative, "sherry like" white wine aged 6 years in opened barrels that pairs perfectly with the local Comté cheese. Being the counterpart of Burgundy, on the other side of the Saône valley, Jura vineyards have a tormented geology and a more continental climate with cold winters and snow accumulation in altitude. The most favorable terroirs are located on hillsides between 150Ft and 500Ft above sea level. The local grape varieties are perfectly adapted to the poor limestone-clay soils of the Jura: the Poulsard (or Ploussard), a little tannic red grape variety at the origin of rosés and light reds; the Trousseau, which gives more colorful and structured red wines; Savagnin, a white grape variety at the origin of the famous yellow wine, Vin de Paille (straw wine) or Macvin (dessert wine). Pinot noir and Gamay are also present and often associated with Trousseau in the making of the reds. Another Burgundian grape variety, the Chardonnay expresses rich and nutty flavors. It contributes also to the making of the local sparkling wine known as Crémant du Jura. Enjoy these wine with aged cheeses, cured hams or creamy potatoes au gratin.
